MISSOULA — My parents want to inform you that they are hosting a breakfast/brunch on Sunday at the hotel from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Stop by if you want a bite to eat before bouncing town. It’s food, it’s free, and you’ll be hungover, hungry and in need of nourishment. Be there or be square. Contact Joey Buck with questions.
As that odd bowling coach on The Simpsons said: “It’s not quite breakfast, it’s not quite lunch, but it comes with a slice of cantaloupe at the end. You don’t get completely what you would at breakfast, but you get a good meal.”
The L is another favorite hike. The L stands for Loyola, not Lolo as some think. Read the plaque for more info. It’s on the top of Mt. Jumbo. Here is a driving map on how to get there. There are multiple starting points. Basically park by a gate or where you see a trail and get hiking. I like the L better than the M. Seems less crowded and commercial (whatever the means). Granted, now that I’ve blogged about it, I’m sure flocks of people will want to hike where I’ve hiked. I would guess the L and M hikes are the same length.
If you didn’t read the insert* in the invitation, you might be a little confused about the dress code for our wedding. We’ve both always dreamed of a crazy theme wedding, but we couldn’t decide on a theme, so that’s where you all come in. The bride and groom will be wearing a dress and tux, respectively. The rest of you should dress in costume.
Jasa’s Family: Star Wars
Dave’s Family: Civil War
Family friends: A day at the zoo
Friends of the couple: 80s celebrities
If you are lame or don’t want to get creative with a costume the following will be acceptable:
Women: Get down with your bad selves as ever you see fit. Maybe show a little ankle. Maybe not because it’s hard to show ankle with boots on.
Men: A tie with a with your choice of jacket suit/sport/duster. Everything is outside (dinner will be under a tent), so feel free to take it off and be comfortable if it’s too hot. Forecast is currently in the 70s. (Note: No Member’s Only jackets. This wedding is about inclusion, not showing off that you are a member of an exclusive club**)
Rehearsal dinner: Casual. Shorts and jeans are acceptable. Wear some type of collard shirt.
* If you actually got an insert that stated the above, then someone is tampering with your mail. Please contact the postmaster general.
**Members only jackets are allowed if you are dressing as an 80s celebrity who wore one.
One of our favorite things to do in Missoula is go for a hike. Two of the best spots are the M (see photos) and the L. The base of the M is a few hundred yards away from Washington Grizzly Stadium, the home of FCS powerhouse U of Montana football. The hike isn’t too long and the switchbacks make it easy. Google maps claims from the hotel it’s just 1.8 miles to the top. Here is gmap’s suggested route. I’m pretty sure you can just take the trail behind the hotel all the way there after crossing a street.
